“Beware of the barrenness of a busy life, warned Socrates. Let us take time to touch lives with compassion, encourage, and invest ourselves in others”
                                                                                -Pamela Ninan

Stress is a dynamic in which an individual is confronted with an opportunity, demand, or resource related to what the individual desired and for which the outcome is perceived to be both uncertain and important. All situations that require adjustment can be stressful. According to Selye, the notion of stress can be breakdown further into Eustress (a positive stress) and distress (a negative stress).

Stress can be defined as physiological, psychological and behavioral reactions which individuals experience in situations that threaten to overwhelm their ability to cope (Baron 1983). Dr. Selye determined that the usual responses to stressful events follow a fairly consistent pattern known as General Adaptation Syndrome. GAS is a person’s defensive behavioral reaction to an environmental demand perceived as threatening. The stages includes: Alarm stage, Resistance stage and exhaustion stage.
