Why Bees? Bees are often considered as harmful insects. People hate honey bees even if they like honey. Bees are dependent on flowers for food. Pollen-their main source of protein, vitamins, minerals, and fat-is necessary for the development of all larval bees. Adult bees forage for pollen and nectar, the sweet liquid produced by flowers. In so doing, they inadvertently transfer pollen grains between flowers, thus pollinating, or fertilizing, plant seeds. Bees also collect nectar as an energy source. They either consume the nectar directly or convert it to honey in the hive. Bees are the nature's best example of social life, the species that live in colonies. Team work which happens under a great leadership - the Queen are other examples where man can learn from. Bees have diverse nesting and social habits. This diversity has provided scientists with a natural laboratory for the study of evolution and social behavior in insects. Have we ever though about a stressful situation in a bee colony? The result is utter chaos.
